ABOUT A CAR

I am currently facing an annoying pinch of dilemma whilst attempting to finish my much overdue 2012 New Year resolutions. (If its still considered one.)

Let's face it.
i need a car.

Despite how everyone tells me that having a transport device to call my own is, in fact, a liability and a burden rather than something that brings you untung in life, i think most people just dont understand the emotionally traumatising part of NOT having one.

Here's why:

1 - Not having a car usually means Troubling your friends.
People who know me on a bff basis know that i really really cant stand mafaning people. And in this case, mafaning friends for transport. (Although the term "what are friends for" comes to mind.) It is a constant blow to my fragile incompetent ego every time i need to open my mouth and put friends (or WORSE - new acquaintances) in a position where they are obligated to say yes. (lets face it, it IS an obligation when someone asks u for transport. A rejection to this only results in awkwardness. Hence, i am eternally grateful to friends who have braised harsh KL road conditions to allow me the joy of sharing a seat in their mobile motors. Arigato muchos gracias. )

2 - Not having a car robes you of Freewill ...
.. when u need to leave events or social gatherings (talk like i'm some damn happening jock liddat rite?) U are forced to take into consideration your kind hearted buddy who so generosity made that extra U turn on the jam-packed KL roads just to pick u up. Which he/she will be doing again later when sending u home.
Oh god who r u to order someone off their happytime to chauffeur u home.Which higher entity bestowed upon u this power to command another human's time ur own.Who died and made u the boss of "imdoneletsleaveNOW". No. U sit and u wait till ur good friend offers to go home. Then u go. That's what u do, that's how it is. End of point.

3 - Not having a car makes you lose the Game
Lets face it. how do u go up to a potential date, ask that person out and then close by saying "so u come pick me up at 8 k? cuz i dont drive." Epic. Fail. Unless ur a girl la. Then diff story. Heh.

4 - Not having a car makes you a Direction Retard.
I dont know if i was born with this defect or this inability to recognise roads, but my inner motivator tells me it is this unownership of a vehicle that deems me so. i'm probably too stressed out being in a car and making conversation with someone in a car that i cant focus on landmarks and directions happening outside. Multitasker i am not. I guess.

5 - Not having a car destroys Creativity
How r u gonna carry ur huge ass shooting equipment and large lighting and life-size props, at the spur of the moment, to an awesome far away location when inspiration suddenly hits and u just need to get that idea out in the flesh? Groan-worthy indeed. Also, passion is 1 thing. Cab fare is another.

So in case you havent noticed, i am considering if getting a car should be in my 2012 to-accomplish list.
Yes.
If i do get a car it will be an accomplishment in my life.
One that will make me happy as an independent human being.
One that will seal myself in the "professional" adult phase of life.
Oh man. i'm turning 27 soon and i dont have a car. FML.


On a different perspective... having a car just leeches the life out of u in so many other ways.
Parking.
Jams.
Downpayments.
Insurance.
Monthly instalments.
Accidents.
Death.
Jams.
Service charges.
Traffic summons.
Kopi-O money.
Changing tyres.
What colour your car should be.
Cleaning.
Actually DRIVING.
Burning alive when u crash and u cant get out of the wreckage.
Jams.
Accidents.
Death.
Argh.

I'm staying home and embracing antisocialism. Settled.

MY CHRISTMAS POEM

I am feeling quaintly artsy and expressively expressive.
Therefore, i shall lament my recent Christmas escapade in the form of self-indulgent poetry.

As the joyous end of 2010 comes near,
Wallets and bank accounts sigh in fear,
The uproarious and yuletide season of giving,
Descents upon our daily living.

Presents and trees and decorations and lights,
Are indeed the things i cannot lose in sight,
But this year i decided to spread more cheer,
Cuz' God knows it's been a bitter year.
(paycheck conflicts, workspace antics, management politics and laziness tactics)

I turn my head, i grip my fist, i push my posture high,
I will not, cannot, stand another moment in depression plight,
So i declare emotional ignorance and pick my next procession,
And i approach dear Swen in a last bid for redemption,
"Oh please oh please let me join your cause"
"I want to feel loved instead of being perved".

"Come to church this Friday! we'll fix you up with something you can harold"
Swen pats my shoulder as she invites me for a plan to behold.

You'll prance and pout till you're smillin as hell".

With that, i found myself performing the deed,
Of donning a religious coat of festivity in need.
It wasnt easy i have to say,
It wasnt a cuppa tea, to my dismay.

There were steps to remember,
Vocal prowess to conjure,
A hipload of sign language to decipher,
But alas it was fun and thrilling and lots of carpooling
- Embracing the Caroling.



We tackled a sign language song,
That sent me on a confusion throng,
We suited up in pitch black,
Though some would frown and say Frak.

My commitment was limited,
As regretful as admitted,
But i pray i did not offend the many,
Whom i thought were downright sweet as honey.



So i salute the Anglican church which took me in,
For a short while of cheer and grin.

hell hath no fury like the month of september.

been crazy shitty rushing for datelines the past few weeks and was constantly self chanting and bosanova-listening to calm the impending stressplosion within. (geddit? stress + explosion. geddit?) u know, the mantra of how reminding one's self of counting one's blessings and be thankful for the little little things in one's life. Must. Chant. Must. Smile. Must. Breathe.

I now understand the full extend of how ironic things can be sometimes.

One moment you're running through ur breeze of downloads planning what to watch and when. and the next you're face down on ur office desk at 2am cursing the mudpile of psd and mpegs u need to send out to whomever for whatever.

A month ago TheOneAcademy (helloooo figures) approached us and asked if we wanted to be guest speakers for their 360 Starlites week. Naturally, we were hesitant. i just didnt feel comfortable (or worthy) speaking to students about work that i am usually not satisfied with myself. It's weird. But being the responsible gile glamour ppl we were, we eventually agreed.

that was a month ago.

Fast forward to present day and voila - no surprise that work-swamp and proactive-procrastination hath' prevented us from touching on any sort of preparation for it. (typical). therefore. we panic and plonk together a cincai load of work and slap on our smiliest smiles to young fresh curious meat in the TOA auditorium.

amateur celebrities.

Students were an enjoyable crowd.

Managed to layan most of our syoksendiriness.

OK so that's that.

Back to work i go.

MOTHER NATURE VIOLATED

and then instead of reaching for the spades to rescue poor pokai-ed plant, everyone instantly whips out canggified poket cameras and plays paparazzo to the horror scene in front of us.

Pfft.
Typical.

Poor plant will be scarred for life thanks to our merciless doings.
She'll never want to stand on a window ledge ever again.
Or show anyone her full bloom of boomz.
Or endure any sort of picture-taking.

i dun think photosynthesis is gonna cover up this wound anytime soon.
We have damaged her beyond stem cell regeneration.

MASKED BLACK BLESSINGS

Sometimes i really think the unfortunate tragedies that befall us are actually blessings in disguise if we just step back, squat, lean in, bend over and tilt our heads to get a different perspective on things.

I experienced such a event 2 days ago.

Woke up. Realised PC crashed through the night.

Tried starting up.

Flickered with light for a moment before shutting down again automatically.

Problem persisted the next few 42382095842343290 rounds of tries.

Cursed. Clenched fist. Kicked stuff around room. Karate chopped cupboard.

Concluded that, once again, it was time for PC to let me down.

Decided to engage in immediate professional assistance.

Unplugged everything. Carried CPU down to Taxi uncles waiting at overhead bridge.

Got in. Dropped off at IKANO. Dragged myself up to 2nd floor.

Seeked ALL-IT's service counter.

Problem detected. Problem solved. 2 hour intermission wait.

Affordable fees of RM21 to fix CPU. No problem. Pay.

Had solo lunch in Cinelei... i mean..err.. e@Curve. (lousy name)

Carried fixed CPU down to nearby Taxi uncle.

Taxi uncle wanted to slaughter my wallet. RM15. Blah.

Crossed road with CPU in arms to seek different taxi uncle on opposite lane.

Taxi uncle told me to cross back over to taxi uncles waiting opposite road - Which was where i was at earlier. Blah.

Crossed back over.

Flagged down (miraculously) different incoming taxi uncle.

Got in. Dropped off at Rainbow.

Lifted up to 18th floor.

Stepped in room by 2.30pm.

Barely 5 minutes into Windows startup screen when rain started pouring outside.

i sigh with relief.

Blessing-in-disguise check-list:

1) PC crashing couldve happened on a friggin workday and cause me even more rushing shitcrap running around BUT didn't. Could've. BUT didnt. Chose to happen on a holiday. Which i am grateful for. More time to sort things out. Less stress.

2) Rain commenced AFTER stepping into safety zone. Which saved me a great deal of trauma and awkward CPU-running. Rain Could've drenched me (and more importantly, CPU). BUT didnt. Which i am grateful for.

3) Repair could've cost much much more. But nice service counter repair fella found loophole for spare part in the end. Only paid for service charge. (original RM30. members price RM21. Awesome.) Could've cost more. BUT didn't.

4) Could've pokai-ed whilst whisking around CPU in hand and once again lose all sense of dignity by crying in public if CPU broke into a million pieces. BUT didn't. Could've. BUT didn't.

It's not a holiday when all you do during your so-called offdays are worry about work, fret about things you need to complete, stress about datelines and bite your nails when you dont know where to get started.

Therefore you do little little things like pee alot more, checkout strangers on facebook, take extra naps, refresh twitter every 2 minutes (when twitter doesnt even need refreshing for updates) or run off to Singapore.

you know. the normal things a desperate person does to procrastinate.

Anyway. Holiday's over and shit pile hits me again tmrw.

i will cry and groan later.

Someone placed Ngong Ngong with catfish and they couldnt
learn how to co-exist in the same aquarium.

Speaking of kitchen...



witnessed an egg explode in a microwave.

Was too lazy to crack open the egg to mix it in a bowl before heating it up
so i basically put the entire egg in and went on with life.

was a pretty intensely loud boom.
1st time!

Ran off to Singapore for a short visit to my cousin's.

That's my uncle indulging in his new found hobby.
He waves a black thingamajig and presses a button and u hear a click
and then real stuff gets captured in pictures.

Spot the green viper in the photo above.

Uncle was looking for monkey's as subjects to shoot
but due to the presence of someone from a less-fortunate downer-grade
neighbouring country, they decided THEIR presence wasnt worth it.

Sheesh.

Therefore, uncle picked the next best thing to shoot
- chopped up plants on Bukit Timah.

That's housebunneigh indulging in her new thing too.
Nurturing furry easy-to-grow daisy seedlings on the balcony and talking to em
everyday when she gets lonely aka. when i'm not around.

That's my company on my last day of my week-long holiday.
Was feeling like shit and decided to splurge on a microminitub of the above item.
The last time i had a taste of this was during the 1st sem of college. 5 years ago.

I remember because i couldnt taste anything different about it with Baskin Rob.
and then today i THINK i realised how wrong i was.

Because Biscuit Caramel flavour was so awesome my brows
went up all high and slanted awe-ish when the spoon went in my mouth.

I think it was just the flavour that was nice la.

I'm a sucker for anything Caramel.
